Abstrakt: BACKGROUND: Limb salvage surgery aims to achieve tumor resection while preserving function and preventing local recurrence. Advances in diagnostic imaging, reconstructive surgical techniques, adjuvant therapies, and a multidisciplinary approach have significantly improved patient survival and functional outcomes. DISCUSSION: This review highlights several leading reconstructive options for limb salvage surgery. It covers short segment reconstruction using compressive osseointegration, telescoping allograft prosthesis composite, prolene mesh extensor mechanism reconstruction following proximal tibia tumor resection, and the use of silver-coated and iodine-impregnated endoprostheses. Additionally, it introduces indigenously developed distal femur prostheses. Reconstruction options in pelvic oncology, including hip transposition and three dimensional printed prostheses, are discussed. The review also highlights biological reconstruction methods such as irradiation, cryotherapy, pasteurization, and autoclaving. It reviews the use of Precice nails for internal limb lengthening and the application of navigation and patient-specific guides for accurate geometric resections. Advances in post-amputation rehabilitation are addressed, focusing on osseointegrated prostheses, targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) and regenerative peripheral nerve interfaces (RPNI). CONCLUSION: From innovative reconstructive techniques to biological methods and post-amputation rehabilitation, advances in limb salvage surgery enhance patient outcomes and quality of life. Collaboration among multidisciplinary teams further improves the success of limb salvage procedures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
