Researchers from the Syrian Private University conducted a national survey to assess the mental health status of the Syrian population following a devastating earthquake in 2023. The study found high rates of acute stress disorder (ASD), anxiety, and depression among participants, with a significant portion experiencing co-occurring symptoms. Factors such as displacement, poor economic status, and trauma exposure were identified as predictors of these mental health issues. The findings underscore the urgent need for enhanced mental health support in Syria in the aftermath of natural disasters. [Extracted from the article] |
