A recent study conducted by researchers at Northwell Health focused on extreme leukocytosis, a condition characterized by a high white blood cell count exceeding 100,000/microliter, and its impact on ICU patients. The study, which analyzed data from 993 ICU patients with extreme leukocytosis, found a one-month mortality rate of 9.71% and highlighted the need for critical care interventions such as vasopressor support, renal support, and mechanical ventilation.
