Researchers from the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences conducted a study on Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and its genetic and environmental factors. The study found that certain genetic polymorphisms in the ARMS2, CFH, and VEGF-A genes are associated with AMD development. Participants with specific risk genotypes had a significantly higher risk of developing AMD, especially when combined with hypertension and certain genetic variants. The study concluded that interactions between these genes increase the risk of AMD development. [Extracted from the article] |
