A recent study from Changchun University of Chinese Medicine explores the role of bile acids in managing insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus through the gut microbiota-bile acids axis. The research highlights the impact of gut microbes on bile acids metabolism and its influence on glucose and lipid metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and blood glucose levels. The study suggests that traditional Chinese medicine approaches, such as herbal medicine and acupuncture, may offer new insights into preventing and treating type 2 diabetes.
