Abstrakt: A study conducted at West Virginia University examined the use of different verb types in the oral narratives of school-age children with typical language development and those with Developmental Language Disorder. The research found that while both groups showed an increase in the overall use of action, metacognitive, and metalinguistic verbs with age, children with DLD produced fewer different verbs in functional tasks such as narratives. The study highlights the importance of ongoing examination of factors impacting verb acquisition and use in communication tasks.
