Researchers at the Universidad de Leon have conducted a study on Streptococcus suis, a pathogen that affects the swine industry, causing severe clinical signs in piglets. The study focused on biofilm formation, a key virulence mechanism of S. suis, and found significant differences in biofilm formation among different serovars. The research also highlighted the impact of coinfections with other porcine respiratory disease complex pathogens on biofilm formation, suggesting implications for pathogenicity and persistence.
