In the article, the authors reveal the methods of expanding the formation of ecological competences among students of the natural education field, today "ecological problems" are becoming more and more relevant. Environmental pollution, climate change, depletion of natural resources are just some of the problems that require a competent solution. However, many people do not have enough environmental education to understand what steps need to be taken to preserve nature. Thus, the development of the methodology for the formation of environmental competences of students of the science education field becomes relevant, as it allows preparing the younger generation to solve environmental problems and to form environmental consciousness in them, which will contribute to the preservation of natural resources and the preservation of the environment. In addition, the development of the methodology can be useful for science teachers, who can use this methodology in their lessons to improve the environmental literacy of students.
