Abstrakt: At present, higher medical schools are facing the issue of developing optimal teaching methods that guarantee the development of deeper knowledge in students that will allow them to perform their professional activities as doctors. At the current stage of development of higher education, the priority is to improve the quality of knowledge and skills of graduates as future medical professionals. The introduction of new educational standards implies a transition to competence-based education, when the integration of the concepts of knowledge-understanding-skills results in the development of the ability and readiness for professional activity, which are referred to as competences. The aim is to find out the possibility of forming the quality of creative and motivated personality of medical students on the basis of traditional and modern approaches. Research methods: analysis of scientific, methodological, educational literature sources and generalisation of own and university experience in conducting classes. Results: the expansion of forms and technologies of teaching fundamental and clinical disciplines is aimed at forming students' professional motivation for their further professional activity, consolidation and specification of the acquired knowledge and skills.
