The study aims to establish a characteristic fingerprint of mulberry bark extract using high-phase liquid chromatography (HPLC), providing support for the overall quality control of Morus alba L. extract. Fifteen batches of mulberry bark extract samples were analyzed and chemically characterized using the HPLC method, and a characteristic fingerprint of the extract was established. The results showed that a total of four characteristic peaks were marked and identified in the chromatograms of the 15 batches of mulberry bark extract, which were confirmed by comparison with standard substances as mulberroside A, kuwanone G, Kuwanon H, and Morusin. Using kuwanone G as the reference peak, the specified values of relative retention time for each characteristic peak were calculated as 0.429, 1.188 and 1.699. The study indicates that the established HPLC characteristic fingerprint of Morus alba L. extract is distinctive and has good precision, stability, and repeatability, providing a reference for the quality control of Morus alba L. extract as a feed additive.
