The experiment aimed to investigate the feeding effect of different proportions of oak leaves on fattening Liaoning cashmere goats. A total of 32 Liaoning cashmere goats aged about two years old, weighing (48.57 ±1.98) kg were randomly divided into four groups, with four replicates per group (half male and half female), and two goats per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while the experimental groups 1, 2, and 3 were fed diets containing 5%, 10%, and 20% oak leaves, respectively. The preliminary trial period was 15 days, and the formal experimental period was 45 days. The results showed that the average daily weight gain of experimental group 3 was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the feed to weight ratio was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The cost per unit weight gain of experimental group 3 was the lowest, with an additional profit of 1.15 yuan per goat per day compared to the control group. The muscle water loss rate of experimental group 2 was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The study indicates that oak leaves can serve as a high-quality roughage during the fattening period of Liaoning cashmere goats, and the effect is better when the addition ratio is 20%.
