A recent study conducted by researchers at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, focused on non-invasive and quantitative evaluation of disuse muscle atrophy caused by immobilization after limb fracture using surface electromyography analysis. The study involved rat experiments to create a model of muscle atrophy and human testing to evaluate changes in muscle fiber composition. The results showed the feasibility of using surface electromyography to assess muscle atrophy and potentially contribute to its diagnosis and treatment. This research was supported by The Key Research And Development Program of Zhejiang Province and was published in the journal Diagnostics. [Extracted from the article] |
