Abstrakt: A study conducted at Wake Forest University compared the outcomes of open, laparoscopic, and robotic gastrectomy procedures in the United States for patients with gastric adenocarcinoma. The research found that minimally invasive surgery (MIS) was associated with lower readmission rates, positive margins, and mortality compared to open surgery. However, the benefits of MIS were less pronounced for tumors located in the proximal or gastroesophageal junction areas. Robotic gastrectomy was linked to superior lymph node yield and shorter hospital stays compared to laparoscopic and open approaches. Further research, especially randomized controlled trials in Western populations, is needed to determine the efficacy of MIS for different tumor locations in gastric cancer treatment.
