Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology focused on evaluating the prevalence of tympanic membrane retractions and manifestations of Eustachian tube dysfunction in patients undergoing type 1 tympanoplasty or myringoplasty. The study, which included 423 patients aged 5-86 years, found that the prevalence of TM retractions was 12.7%, ETD manifestations without concurrent TM retraction was 4.2%, and graft failure rate was 11.0%. Risk factors for developing TM retractions included preoperative myringosclerosis, history of ipsilateral ear surgery, and posterior perforations, while factors associated with decreased risk included previous contralateral ear surgery and temporal fascia graft use. Diligent follow-up strategies are recommended due to the dynamic nature of these complications. [Extracted from the article]
