Due to depleting coal reserves, renewable energy technologies have emerged powerful source of energy. In renewable energy sources, solar energy is available abundantly and hence grid connected PV system is installed everywhere in large number. Solar inverter is most important component in solar PV system. Grid connected PV system supplies generated active power in the grid through solar inverter. In addition to this, it is possible to supply/absorb reactive power by applying proper control strategy as per requirement of reactive power with the help of solar inverter. Solar PV inverter can act as a reactive power controller along with active power control as per reactive power requirement by the load. In this paper, grid connected PV system is demonstrated for active and reactive power flow control. MATLAB simulation of grid connected PV system is presented for different loading conditions.
