Researchers from Addis Ababa University conducted a study on the impact of watershed-scale management practices on soil properties in the Urago and Mende micro-watersheds in Ethiopia. The study found that while there were minor improvements in soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, and base saturation in the conserved micro-watershed, overall, there were no significant differences in soil properties between the two areas. The research highlighted the need for tailored sustainable land management approaches to enhance soil quality, especially in lower-elevation farmlands.
