A recent report from Massachusetts General Hospital discusses the Central Chronic Medicine Dispensing and Distribution (CCMDD) program in South Africa, which provides community-based medication delivery for people with HIV on antiretroviral therapy. The study found that participants had positive views of the program due to convenient medication pick-up, reduced clinic crowding, and improved communication around refills. However, challenges such as community HIV stigma and judgmental communication from nurses were noted, highlighting the need for continued focus on decreasing stigma and improving provider-patient relationships for the program's success.
