A recent study conducted by the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in Kaunas, Lithuania, explored the association between a gene mutation (MC4R:C.92C>T) and feline diabetes. The research found that 37.8% of the cats studied carried the gene mutation, which was more prevalent in cats with diabetes compared to healthy cats. The study concluded that there is a connection between this gene polymorphism, obesity, and the development of diabetes in felines.
