Researchers at the National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Tehran, Iran, have identified a new cyanobacterial strain, Cyanobium sp. MMK01, that produces C-phycocyanin (C-PC) with high efficiency. The purification process of C-PC resulted in an ultra-highly purified form with significant purity. The study found that C-PC from MMK01 showed potential in scavenging free radicals, inhibiting lung cancer cell viability, and containing antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and cancer-preventive compounds. This research highlights the potential of Cyanobium sp. MMK01 in producing high-quality C-PC and the effectiveness of the purification process in achieving purity. [Extracted from the article] |
