A recent study conducted by a researcher from the Polish Academy of Sciences focused on investigating the impact of tooth absence on facial bone growth using a porcine model. The study aimed to develop a suitable animal model for preclinical studies related to disorders of facial bone development, such as anodontia. The research involved germectomy in piglets, followed by various analyses to assess the influence of growth factors on bone growth. The findings indicated challenges in identifying the most effective growth factor application for normal jaw development, highlighting the importance of further research in this area.
