Researchers at Florida State University have published new findings on epigenetics, focusing on the identification of DNA methylation-phenotype associations. The study introduces a new resource called MIMOSA, which improves the prediction accuracy of DNA methylation and enhances the power of methylome-wide association studies (MWAS) by utilizing a large summary-level mQTL dataset. Through their analyses, the researchers demonstrate that MIMOSA significantly increases the accuracy of DNA methylation prediction, identifies more CpG site-phenotype associations, and successfully pinpoints putatively causal CpG sites related to high cholesterol. This research contributes to a better understanding of the role of DNA methylation in complex diseases. [Extracted from the article] |
