Researchers at Fukushima Medical University School of Medicine conducted a study on Kienbock's disease, specifically focusing on radial closing wedge osteotomy (RCWO) outcomes for Lichtman stage III cases. The study found that age is a crucial factor in determining the success of RCWO, with younger patients experiencing better clinical and radiological outcomes compared to older patients. The research suggests that RCWO may result in improved clinical outcomes for patients up to their mid-50s and enhanced radiological outcomes for those up to approximately 30 years old. Further studies on age cutoffs are recommended to refine surgical selection criteria for RCWO. [Extracted from the article] |
