Researchers at Tsinghua University in Shenzhen, China, have developed a new light-activable inhibitor called PhoPS that shows promise in overcoming antimicrobial resistance and regulating antibacterial activity. The inhibitor demonstrated rapid photoactivation, stability, and effectiveness in inhibiting beta-lactamase in vitro, showing synergy with a cephalosporin antibiotic against both susceptible and resistant strains of Escherichia coli. This research offers a potential solution to restoring the efficacy of existing antibiotics and combating the emergence of antimicrobial resistance. [Extracted from the article] |
