Abstrakt: Researchers from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, conducted a study on the potential protective effects of vitamin D against DNA fragmentation and bone marrow cytotoxicity induced by chloramphenicol. The study involved male albino mice divided into different treatment groups, and results showed that vitamin D reduced genotoxicity in liver cells and micronuclei formation in bone marrow cells caused by chloramphenicol. The researchers concluded that further investigation into the mechanisms of vitamin D's protective effects and clinical studies on its efficacy in mitigating chloramphenicol's adverse effects in humans are needed. This study was published in Toxicology Reports and can be accessed for free online. [Extracted from the article]
