A recent study conducted at "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, focused on the efficacy of prophylactic swallowing exercises in patients undergoing total laryngectomy for laryngeal cancer. The randomized controlled trial involved 92 patients who performed targeted swallowing exercises for three months post-surgery. Results showed significant improvements in swallowing function at three, six, nine, and twelve months post-procedure for patients who engaged in prophylactic exercises. This research highlights the potential benefits of incorporating preventive exercises in the treatment of laryngeal cancer patients. [Extracted from the article] |
