Abstrakt: The content of moisture, ash, extractive substances, and impurities in dry extract from eyebright ( Euphrasia brevipila) grass has been studied. The content of the main biologically active components, flavonoids and iridoids, has been estimated at 3.56 – 6.81% and 0.44 – 0.69%, respectively. The optimum method of extraction for a material crushed to particle size within 0.25 – 2.0 mm is repercolation using 40% ethanol, with a phase contact time of 8 – 16 h at every stage. The yield of dry extract (containing 19.84% of flavonoids and 2.27% of iridoids) was 14.75%. This extract possessed antiinflammatory activity in a dose range from 10 to 300 mg/kg; the acute toxicity is 4470 mg/kg. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
