The article discusses the use of oral cyclosporine in treating chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) cases that are refractory to antihistamine therapy. The study found that higher doses of cyclosporine (4-5mg/kg/day) were more effective in controlling symptoms of CSU, with most patients experiencing improvement within a few weeks. However, discontinuation of cyclosporine led to a recurrence of symptoms in a majority of patients. The study highlights the need for better treatment options for CSU and suggests that higher doses of cyclosporine may be beneficial for short-term management of refractory cases.
