Abstrakt: The article "Reply to: Death by community-based methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: case report" published in Critical Care Science in 2024 discusses a study conducted in Paraíba, Brazil, on children and adolescents with COVID-19 who required intensive care. The research found that male patients were more likely to be admitted to the ICU than female patients, and patients of mixed race had a lower chance of needing intensive care. Factors such as population size, Gini index, and symptoms like dyspnea were also associated with ICU admission. The study highlights the importance of considering social and contextual determinants in understanding the impact of COVID-19 on children and adolescents. [Extracted from the article]
