A recent study conducted at the Lenora Institute of Dental Sciences compared the anti-plaque efficacy of herbal, probiotic, and chlorhexidine mouthwashes in preventing periodontal diseases. The research found that herbal and probiotic mouthwashes could be effective alternatives to chlorhexidine, which is considered the gold standard but may have side effects with long-term use. The study involved 30 subjects and showed significant reductions in plaque and gingival scores for both herbal and probiotic mouthwashes compared to chlorhexidine. This research provides valuable insights into alternative options for maintaining oral health and preventing periodontal diseases. [Extracted from the article] |
