Abstrakt: Researchers from King Faisal University conducted a study on sickle cell nephropathy (SCN) in the Saudi population, finding that 27.1% of adult patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) had chronic kidney disease (CKD). Factors such as age and low hemoglobin levels were identified as independent risk factors for SCN development. Patients with SCD who also had diabetes mellitus and hypertension were at a higher risk of developing kidney disease. The study highlights the importance of early detection and management of nephropathy in SCD patients. [Extracted from the article]
