A recent study from Northwestern University examined the impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) burden on healthcare costs and utilization. The research found that patients with device-recognized AF incurred higher annualized costs due to increased healthcare encounters, adverse clinical events, and AF-specific interventions. Among patients with AF, those with persistent AF had the highest healthcare costs. The study highlights the importance of integrating patient-specific data to accurately assess the impact of AF on healthcare use. [Extracted from the article] |
