Abstrakt: Researchers at the Federal University Sergipe Ufs in Sao Cristovao, Brazil, conducted a study on orofacial pain relief using an inclusion complex of alpha-phellandrene with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin. The complex showed significant antinociceptive effects in rodent models of orofacial pain induced by various stimuli, reducing both neurogenic and inflammatory phases of pain. The study suggests that alpha-phellandrene, especially in complexed form, may alleviate orofacial pain by modulating pain-related receptors and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, indicating potential new avenues for pain treatment. Further research is needed to explore the precise mechanisms of alpha-phellandrene in chronic orofacial pain models. [Extracted from the article]
