A study conducted in the US analyzed healthcare costs and resource utilization among privately insured patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The research found that patients with PTSD and mental health comorbidities had the highest economic burden. The study included sub-analyses of patients with substance/alcohol use disorder, showing higher costs and resource utilization among those with comorbidities.
