A recent study conducted at Bambino Gesu Children's Hospital in Rome, Italy, focused on the longitudinal changes in antinuclear antibodies (ANA) titers in children with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Sjogren's syndrome. The study found that all pediatric SLE patients showed significantly lower ANA titers after 2 years, with some becoming ANA negative. In contrast, all pediatric Sjogren's syndrome patients remained ANA positive after 2 years. The research suggests different pathogenetic pathways in SLE and Sjogren's syndrome.
