A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Freiburg in Germany focused on analyzing the quality of antimicrobial prescriptions in 10 non-university hospitals in southwest Germany in 2021. The study found that a significant percentage of patients received antimicrobials, with most prescriptions being for therapeutic indications. However, overall adherence to quality indicators was low, indicating a need for improvement in antimicrobial prescribing practices in non-university hospitals. The researchers suggest the implementation of sustainable antimicrobial stewardship programs and further legislation to address this issue. [Extracted from the article] |
