Researchers at the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine have conducted a study on osteonecrosis, specifically focusing on the role of the Lachnospiraceae-butyric acid axis in glucocorticoid-associated osteonecrosis (GAON). The study found that reduced levels of Lachnospiraceae and butyric acid, along with increased inflammation due to glucocorticoid use, contribute to GAON development. The researchers suggest that butyric acid supplementation could potentially reduce the incidence of GAON, offering a new approach for clinical management. The study was published in the Journal of Translational Medicine and was supported by various funding sources. [Extracted from the article] |
