Abstrakt: RSV, or respiratory syncytial virus, is a highly contagious illness that affects people of all ages, especially infants, with cases peaking in December and January. In the United States, RSV is the number-one cause of hospitalization in infants, with an estimated 58,000 to 80,000 children under five being hospitalized each year. To protect infants from severe RSV infections, the CDC recommends two FDA-approved immunization options, including a maternal RSV vaccine and monoclonal antibodies, which offer 75 to 85 percent protection against severe RSV and hospitalization.
