Background/Aims During and after the COVID-19 pandemic, there are still controversies, particularly in the duration of adjuvant treatment for colorectal cancer patients. FOLFOX is the gold standard for these resectable locally advanced cancers in both colon and rectal adenocarcinomas. 3 months of adjuvant chemotherapy has already been announced during this pandemic era for the basic reason of reducing the contact of the patients with both hospital and healthcare providers to minimise the COVID-19 transmission. The debatable clinical reasoning is whether the 3-month duration was as good as the standard 6-month duration and had equal disease-free survival. Methods This study was conducted in the surgery department of Moewardi General Hospital Indonesia from January until December 2022. The patients of both ages were included in this study, and the histopathology result was adenocarcinoma of the colon and rectum. The unresectable cases were excluded from this study. For 3 months, only adjuvant chemotherapy was administered with the standard FOLFOX regimens. Abdominal CTscans and chest x-rays were performed 12 months after adjuvant chemotherapy to evaluate the progression and detect the distant metastasis of this colorectal cancer. Results We reported our first 10 cases of resectable, locally advanced adenocarcinoma of the colon and rectum. Four cases are young colorectal cancers (under 40 years old). The most common tumour location is proximal rectal cancer. After the 3-month duration of adjuvant chemotherapy, we found no progression and distant metastasis in both colon and rectal cancer based on abdominal CT and chest x-rays. Conclusion The 3-month duration of adjuvant chemotherapy on locally advanced adenocarcinoma colorectal was feasible with a good clinical outcome based on disease-free survival in the first year after definitive surgery.
