The article in Chemistry - A European Journal discusses a photoinduced copper‐catalyzed enantioselective conjugate addition of acylsilanes to α,β‐unsaturated ketones and aldehydes. The process involves metal‐to-ligand charge‐transfer excitation of an alkene‐bound acylcopper intermediate to generate a triplet β‐radical‐C‐enolate‐CuII‐acyl complex, leading to C−C bond formation in the copper coordination sphere. The research highlights the potential of triplet excited state C−C bond formation as a valuable synthetic strategy. The study was conducted by a team of researchers including Yusuke Masuda, Yusuke Ueda, Aiko Sueki, Junpei Shimosato, Kousei Nishimura, Min Gao, Jun‐ya Hasegawa, and Masaya Sawamura.
