A new approach is proposed to develop human body sizing systems that reflect the most important correlations between anthropometric measurements. The approach is flexible in that it can applied to any target population with any gender and age distribution and can be used to develop sizing systems with a desired size range and number of size groups. The approach identifies the ten most important and representative anthropometric measurements in the training data and applies principal component analysis to reduce the problem dimensionality and find control dimensions. The distribution of the first two principal component scores was considered for setting the size range and number of size groups. The results for three sizing systems with different size groups illustrate the viability of the approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
