Abstrakt: Recent research from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) explores the anatomy of the thenar motor branch of the median nerve in relation to carpal tunnel release surgery. The study found that an origin of the thenar motor branch more ulnarly in the palm can increase the risk of nerve injury during surgery. A new classification system was introduced to define these anatomical variations, emphasizing the importance of identifying the thenar motor branch before ligament division for a safer procedure. This peer-reviewed study provides valuable insights for surgeons performing carpal tunnel release surgeries. [Extracted from the article]
