A study conducted by Northwell Health in New York aimed to determine the impact of preoperative opioid education on reducing opioid consumption after spine surgery. The research found that patients who received formal education through a video and handouts experienced significant reductions in opioid consumption at 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively.
