A recent study conducted at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil focused on the nutritional, metabolic, and inflammatory alterations in children with chylous effusion following cardiac surgery. The research involved 23 patients aged 0 to 18 years and highlighted the prevalence of malnutrition, lymphopenia, hypoalbuminemia, and mineral imbalances in this population. The findings underscore the importance of clinical and laboratory monitoring in the postoperative period to facilitate early detection and treatment of chylous effusion.
