Abstrakt: | A recent report from Egerton University explores the genetic diversity and genome-wide association studies of resistance to bacterial wilt disease in potatoes. The study found that while no cultivated potato genotypes have shown a satisfactory level of resistance to bacterial wilt, understanding the genetic landscape of resistance can aid in effective disease management. The research identified 24 potato accessions with high resistance to bacterial wilt and highlighted the potential for marker-enabled breeding in elite genotypes for potato breeding initiatives. This study provides valuable insights for improving potato varieties and enhancing disease resistance in important food crops. [Extracted from the article] |
