A recent report discusses a severe case of Plasmodium falciparum malaria in a 44-year-old Caucasian woman who returned to Romania from Nigeria. The woman presented with various symptoms, including fever, weakness, and muscle pain, and unfortunately succumbed to the illness due to multi-organ failure. The research emphasizes the importance of educating travelers about preventing malaria through measures to reduce mosquito bites and appropriate chemoprophylaxis, especially in the context of post-COVID-19 travel.
