A recent study conducted at Emory University examined the technical and clinical outcomes of thrombectomy for proximal medium vessel occlusion (pMeVO) using frontline techniques. The research, which included 5977 large vessel occlusion (LVO) and 1287 pMeVO patients, found that successful recanalization, shorter procedure times, and fewer thrombectomy attempts were predictors of good outcomes in pMeVO patients. The study concluded that different techniques may exhibit varying futility metrics, with stent-retriever thrombectomy being more influenced by attempts and aspiration being more dependent on procedure time. This peer-reviewed research provides valuable insights into the efficacy of thrombectomy procedures for stroke patients. [Extracted from the article] |
