Rivers in Iraq facing problems of water pollution due to the difficulty for complying with acceptable standards limit. This study goals to assess Diyala River water quality as one division of the Tiger River at seven stations, Jalawla station at (Klar - Jalawla Road) Klar Bridge (DI2), Sadiya station before the inter to Hamren Lake (DI3), Mukdadia station after Diyala Dam (DI4), Bakuba Station (DI5)) at Iron Bridge, Nissan 9 pumping station (DI5B), The new Diyala Bridge, 100 m south of the Al-Rustumiya sewage station (DI6)and The old Diyala bridge (DI7), the first four stations were in Diyala Province. The other was in Baghdad Province. Nine parameters' studies were including (pH value, Orthophosphate (PO4), Sulphate (SO4), Total Hardness (T.H),Nitrate (NO3) Magnesium (Mg), Calcium (Ca), Chloride (Cl), and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Water quality indices calculated by the Visual Basic 6 program, including the (WAWQI), (CCMEWQI), and (OWQI). The results show that the first three stations were in good water quality according to the three water quality indices calculated. In contrast, the water quality described as very poor in the remaining stations, and this is due to the high concentrations of the elements deposited in the Diyala River from the wastewater treatment plant in Al-Rustumiya. A program was prepared using Visual Basic 6 language with multiple interfaces or forms that make calculating indices easy and can also be developed according to the case of the study.
