EFFICACY OF PHYSIOTHERAPY TREATMENT IN POLYMORBID CASE WITH GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME.

Abstrakt: Aim: Тo evaluate the effect of 2-month physiotherapy treatment in a patient with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Material and methods: A 75-year-old male patient with Guillain-Barré syndrome after COVID, with history of gastric cancer and consequent resection, history of polyneuropathy caused by chemotherapy, and transpedicular stabilization for lumbar spine fracture. The assessments were performed on the first day of hospitalization and on the last day before hospital discharge. LEFS, STS, BBS, DGI were used to assess the effect. The physiotherapeutic interventions were organized every day in 2-hour sessions. The treatment emphasized improving the motor control in standing and walking, transfers and improving independence in daily activities by resisted exercises, sensory and balance training, cyclical exercise, PNF techniques etc. Results: At the end of the period, an improvement in the patient's functional status is observed. Improvement was noted in the time of verticalization to standing, static standing, walking with forearm crutches and performance of everyday activities. Conclusion: The physiotherapeutic interventions positively affect balance and gait, improving the patient's independence in standing and walking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
