A recent study from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, compared the effectiveness of digital mammography (DM) and synthetic mammography (SM) in breast cancer screening. The study found that while SM was better at detecting microcalcifications, DM still showed higher overall diagnostic accuracy and image clarity. Therefore, while SM offers some advantages, it is not yet able to replace DM in breast cancer screening.
