A recent study from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, compared the effectiveness of digital mammography (DM) and synthetic mammography (SM) in breast cancer screening. The study found that while SM was better at detecting microcalcifications, DM still showed higher overall diagnostic accuracy and image clarity. Therefore, while SM offers some advantages, it is not yet able to replace DM in breast cancer screening. Researchers analyzed images from 375 women aged 40-65 who underwent DM with digital breast tomosynthesis at King Khaled University Hospital from 2020-2022. [Extracted from the article] |
