A recent study conducted at two teaching hospitals in Kohat and Peshawar, Pakistan, by researchers from Khyber Medical University aimed to determine the frequency of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) among antenatal women. The study found that GDM was diagnosed in 27.5%, 18.4%, and 16.4% of participants based on different diagnostic criteria. Factors significantly associated with GDM included a positive family history of diabetes, maternal diabetes, hypertension, and a previous history of GDM. These findings may help refine screening and management guidelines for GDM in primary and secondary care settings. [Extracted from the article] |
